Solidarity! I'm coming out of one 'rejection cycle' and pausing before I dive into another. I am also 'between agents'. This publishing business is madness--it has very little to do with actual writing. The only sane thing about this writer's life is making sense of the world through writing. I totally agree--it's the writing that is the lifeline. Thanks for your optimism!
Writing and our love for it is absolutely the lifeline here! I think it also helps to remember that this is such a common experience and that we’re not alone in having to navigate it. Sending lots of good thoughts your way for the next cycle!
Oh I love your honesty. I feel like I’m a long way from ever sending anything out but I’m still trying to keep the ‘keep writing’ mantra close to heart, especially when I feel myself wobbling over why I’m bothering. Thank you!
I agree completely and I love how you put this: "the only way to stay afloat is to keep writing." NOT writing, for whatever reason, is the thing that terrifies me. Boo to your agent for not being in your corner. I've had that happen, too. I hope you have people around you who read and love your work.
Thank you, Martha. I’m sorry to hear it happened to you too, though it is also comforting to know how common the experience is. And yes, thank you, I do have my own little handful of supportive fans! Here’s to staying afloat and keeping writing ✍️

Thank you for the lovely comment, Harriet. Good luck with keeping on writing!

Also: the most important "yes" is the one we say to ourselves ❤️
Thank you, Hayley! You’re absolutely right about the most important yes coming from ourselves. 💙
Love this refreshing honesty. Solidarity!
