I love the personal aspect of his details, something I've never considered doing (in a conscious way). It jibes with something a former writing teacher once emphasized: the writer must project (and feel within themselves) a sense of authority. And of course, including something personal to you HAS to enhance that feeling of authority, right?! I'm going to make a conscious effort to do that.
